Sip and Savor: A Heartwarming Holiday Tradition 🍷
As we embrace the enchanting spirit of the season, I'm thrilled to invite you into a cherished tradition that warms my heart - strolling through the festive German Christmas Markets, and sipping on the delightful warmth of Glühwein. This merry activity is a favorite part of my holidays, a connection to the cozy moments spent with family in Germany.
This year, unable to meander the charming markets, I decided to recreate the magic right in my own kitchen. I've brewed up a delightful blend of fruit, wine and fragrant spices, and let me tell you, it's nothing short of divine!
If you like to join me and bring some holiday magic straight to your cozy space, here's what you'll need for this delightful concoction. While the list of ingredients is vast, feel free to pick and choose from the assortment; a select few will still conjure a delightful mulled wine. Yet, it's the spices that dance and twirl, turning your kitchen into a Glühwein wonderland. Let the magic begin!
Ingredients:
1 apple
1 pear
1 grapefruit
1 lemon
1 mandarin
1 orange
1 cup fresh cranberries or pomegranate
Juice of 4 oranges (or orange juice)
1 bottle of red wine
1-2 tablespoon Orange Liquor
2-3 tablespoons brown sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
3 star anise
4 cloves
Instructions:
Cut the apple and pear into quarters and slice the citrus fruits.
Place all the ingredients in a pot.
Gently heat up to about 175 Fahrenheit, allowing the fragrant aromas to fill the air.
Let this delightful concoction simmer for approximately 10 minutes, creating a symphony of warmth and spice.
Voila! You've crafted a delectable Glühwein that promises to warm your soul and make you feel all glowy inside. If you decide to give this holiday-inspired treat a try, I'd love to hear your thoughts.
Wishing you a season filled with warmth, joy, and delightful culinary discoveries.
Love,
Kerstin
